We guarantee you will receive the same fresh eggs that we hatch for our own use. Our farm participates in “National Poultry Improvement Plan” (NPIP) of the United States Department of Agriculture here in Ohio. However, we do not guarantee your hatchability or health of chicks due to many possible issues out of our control once they leave our farm.
Chicken hatching eggs are shipped Monday through Wednesday. Any orders received after 2 pm Wednesday will be shipped the following Monday unless other SPECIFIC arrangements are made. If you are not wanting immediate shipment please put a date in the box just above place order in the checkout when you would like them to ship. I will do my best to accommodate.
All eggs are shipped Priority Express FLAT RATE. We wrap and package all eggs in the same way. Click here to read about our process.
Please have your incubator running at least three days in advance of an anticipated date of arrival. Eggs should be unwrapped and allowed to rest, narrow end down for 12-24 hours after receipt. Hatching eggs may arrive with displaced air cells. Allowing the egg to rest can help the air sac to return to the correct position. Then incubated immediately for best results.
Our fertile hatching eggs are NOT insured by the United States Post Office. For damaged eggs we will do a ONE time reshipment and we will not refund or replace after the ONE time reshipment.
We currently do not ship eggs to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or The Virgin Islands. We do not ship internationally at this time.
We do not start selling hatching eggs until our home hatches are at a 90% or better development rate. We generally hatch at an 80% rate here. We assume with shipped eggs, the temperatures are not controlled and the bouncing or shocks during transport are not controlled. Therefore, a realistic expectation would be a 50-70% hatch rate after delivery. But again, there is NO hatching rate guaranteed.
When Customers order hatching eggs, they are agreeing to the following:
-orders are at the customer's own risk and no refunds are given.
-customers are relying on the post office for safe delivery.
-customers are agreeing to be available to pick up the eggs from the post office when they arrive.
I do NOT like to ship large fowl. They trend to not ship as easily as bantams. It is very, very expensive to ship large birds. Shipping is on a case by case basis and only if no other reasonable option is available.
Bantams can be shipped at any age. Shipping costs, insurance above the initial $50, and box cost are the responsibility of the buyer. We ship using Horizon Poultry shipping boxes. I buy them in bulk to keep pricing as low as possible.
Birds are shipped Monday through Wednesday. They are always shipped Priority Express. Pricing is based on location. Pricing is set by the USPS. I have no control over this cost.
Some states require a Health Certificate issued by a Veterinarian. The additional cost is the responsibility of the buyer. I will make the appointment and get the birds examined. I will make sure the paperwork is correct and your state veterinarian and/or Ag Department requirements are met prior to shipping.
Birds are shipped with food and fresh fruit adequate enough for three to four days in transit. I do not put more than two grown bantams in one box. I do not ship when the temperature at any point of the trip will be over 85 degrees.
I will provide a tracking number once birds ship. As the buyer, you are responsible to be available to pick up the birds when they arrive at your local post office. Please contact me immediately if there are issues with the delivery or condition of the birds upon arrival.
I am willing to transport Eggs and/or Started Birds to any show I am scheduled to attend.
Transport must be arranged at time of purchase.
Purchase must be paid for IN FULL PRIOR to being transported.
There will be a $15 per "hole" fee attached for transport, even when I am travelling to shows. The more sale birds I have to make room for, the less room I have for Show birds.
I welcome visitors to our farm. I encourage anyone who can to see the birds they are purchasing prior to buying. This allows me to go over the individual bird with you. And, it allows you to physically assess the bird before taking possession.
Visits are by appointment only. I do work a job outside of the farm. I also travel frequently to shows and on business. I try to be as accommodating as possible., but please remember, this is not a big hatchery. My farm is my home.
When visiting, please be aware we have biosecurity protocols. You will be asked to put on disposable booties before entering the barn. You will also be asked to wash your hands before handling any birds.
Children are welcome. However, we expect children to be supervised at ALL TIMES. No running in the barn. No screaming or yelling. No teasing of the animals will be tolerated. This includes our barn cats.
Lastly, please be aware, we also raise Mastiffs. While the majority of the dogs do not enter the barn, they are present and do bark, loudly. If you are uncomfortable around big dogs, please let me know in advance. We will make sure all the dogs are contained during your visit.
